Crafts for cricut expression?

I just recieved a cricut expression about a month ago as a gift. I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE IT!!! but i need some craft idea's. I've made some scrap pages, paper flowers, and cards, but i want some advanced projects, any ideas?

I've seen bedrooms decorated with the cricut vinyl. Many people like to cut out phrases for the walls or windows. you can use it to cut stencils for glass etching and making small boxes or bags for little gifts or cupcakes.

Waste Can Become Art

Popularly known as e-waste, electronic waste or the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), the term is directed to obsolete, discarded, broken electronic and electrical devices, which almost all families are guilty of throwing out. One of the popular ways of disposing old and battered phones, TVs, laptops and computers is through landfills. Another way is exporting still usable electronic and electrical gadgets to developing countries.

And that is where the problem begins. The United Nations Environment Program reports that 50 tons of electronic wastes are being thrown each year. In the United States, reports say that 70% of landfills are filled with e-waste. With this very high percentage and the fact that e-gadgets are part of everyday living, in comes the Weston Leaders of Tomorrow Program which promotes awareness of e-waste and the threats to health that come with it. This is supported by The Conservation Foundation of Greater Toronto, TRCA and The W. Garfield Weston Foundation.

Two Grade 6 classes from Sixteenth Avenue Public School in Richmond Hill, together with their teachers, launched a drive to address the global problem. The pupils took part and rendered their views regarding e-waste by participating in the Toronto and Region Conservation's Weston Environmental Leaders of Tomorrow Program. They shared how they felt about e-wastes and showed such through art works, essays, poetry and letters. Their artworks of stockpiled e-waste that are painted and written with their concerns and opinions are displayed at the Schad Gallery of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) all throughout last month.

Araby Porter, one of the Grade 6 teachers, said that the program caused a big impact on the pupils with regards to their thinking and re-thinking about the issue on e-waste. She also believes that the Weston Leaders of Tomorrow Program served as an eye-opener for the pupils on how critical the problem on e-waste is. Penny Lam, also a Grade 6 teacher, expresses her admiration of the artworks that her pupils did. She said that her pupils have created a magnificent work and conveyed a message on how important the issue of e-waste is. The students, on the other hand, are also very enthusiastic about the campaign. And with that, the pupils are thinking of a more in-depth project, a research project on e-waste.

I have found the speed is important when I am cutting tiny letters and shapes. More so than any of the other settings.
Hope this helps you. Oh increase the blade depth if you use a thicker paper.

Does the Cricut Expressions print images?

Hi, I know that the Cricut Expressions is a cutting tool but I have seen on the infomercial and even on ebay advertisements for cartridges, that there are these Disney "images" that come with the cartridge, i.e. Micky Mouse, Tinker Bell, etc. What are these images? Is it something that you print from your computer and then somehow tell the machine how to cut it? Thanks in advance!

It cuts out disney die cuts. You buy the Cricut and one of the Disney cartridges, put it into the machine and program a size and it cuts it out of paper. You can go to the Cricut web site to see all cartridges. Hobby Lobby and Wal Mart carry them too

Cricut, SCAL and drawing on paper!?

I am thinking of getting the Cricut Expressions along wiht SCAL. I know you can obviously cut with SCAL, but can you also just use the Cricut drawing feature so you could draw a title on paper or an outline or figure on paper? Thanks!
Actually you can connect a SCAL to the cricut and connect a cricut to a computer through a simple cable. Thats what SCAL is all about - but that wasnt my question - but thank you!!! Hopefully someone can tell me about my question! )))))) I need to know about the drawing!

The cricut is limited by not being able to connect to a computer. You are limited to their cartridges. Search on line for a different cutter. I got one that hooks to my computer and I can draw and cut anything. Try Quickutz on ebay

You can create your own baby banner like what he did. All you need to do is to gather all the materials that you would need like cardboard coasters, adhesives, pencils, and scrapbook papers. You can also add decorations like ribbons, flowers, and rhinestones to the list. Cutting materials like scissors, and shape cutters are also included. For the adhesives, it depends on what you want to use so it can be glue, paste, or maybe even tape. There is no need to buy all the things that you will need. Try to scour your home and you will find most of the materials right there.

first of all you need to adhere your paper well to the Cricut mat. By that i mean place your paper on the mat and then roll it all over with a brayer. this eliminates all the air pockets that can form and distort the needle cuts into the paper. Secondly, set your needle depth at 4 and speed and pressure at 4. Now, try it and see how it goes. If it still is not to your liking then try lowering the SPEED. sometimes the smaller letters and designs are tough to do, but with practice you can master it. Smart idea to use the test paper. I'm not familiar with the cart you mentioned but I find that when i need small letters <1 inch, I use a cart that has a "block" with the letter inside it and if I cut the block at 1", the letter inside is smaller and just the right size for me. HTH

I just purchased a Cricut Expression.?

What is every thing you need to use it.. mine came with 3 mats. i know you need cartridges what else do you need? do you need like ink and stuff?

Cutting out shapes is the machines main function. You do not need ink unless you plan to draw with it. you should have the sticky cutting mats and a blade You only need a cartridge if yours didn't already come with one

help with die cut machine choices!?

ever since i saw the infomercial for the cricut die cut machine, i've began to desperately want one. i would like the cricut expression but its not cheap.its about $285 right no at walmart. the personal cricut is $185.if i get the personal one- which isnt as nice as the expression- i will be happy but then wish i wouldve waited and got the expression. i will definately use them, so it wouldnt be a waste of money. but, which would you choose? and explain why.

I currently own the Original Cricut ($185) was given to me as a gift when it first came out and was $300!!! I am wanting the Expression but their not cheap. So, I'll wait off on it. I have one for now so thats good enough.

Now, why would you want something so big? What are your main usage for it? Making HUGE posters, letters etc? Because the Expression cuts up to 23 1/2 inches!!!!! Its heavier, & its better kept in the same place.

Unlike the Expression, the Cricut is light weight, fairly portable. They both do the samething. But one is more "modern" than the other.

When considering whether you should buy one of the 2, think of the following:

*Whats your budget?
*What are you main usages for?
*Do you have space for it?
*Can you afford the accessories? (Mats-bigger mats mean more $$)
------(you need the Cartridges & their a bit expensive. When not on sale $89.99 or $59.99 at Wm)
------You need the tool kit (mainly the spatula-sold separately)
------You need the tote to store it & keep it safe
------You need the blades

BTW, the Cricut Create is a combination of both machines together.

Coz you can buy Deep Cut Blade to use on Expression to cut stamp, so I was wondering if you could use them on Cricut Personal as well.

Not sure what you are asking. "Cut stamp"?? To cut out paper you can use both machines.

Most women dream of a grand wedding since they were little girls. They dream of a very large ballroom for the reception, a very expensive gown with intricate designs to wear and lots of guests who would witness the special event. However, there are also women who are on the practical side. These are the ones who prefer having a simple and quiet but fun wedding, outside of what is stereotyped in wedding magazines.

If you want to stray away from the stereotype, you have to prepare yourself as this would be great challenge to have a DIY wedding. Most organizers could help you but if you have a limited budget, who needs a wedding planner, right?

So, you have to organize your priorities in setting up this wedding. First, you have to decide where you want your wedding to be held. Is it in a church, at a garden venue, in the beach, or is it somewhere near or far? If you prefer somewhere far, then destination wedding on a budget is just for you.

Next, you have to decide the overall ambience of your wedding. Do you like it classic or fairytale-like, or would you like it to be loud and full of festivity? If you choose the latter, find a venue that would cater your wishes and also prepare for the music! If you want to dance, then by all means! Just be sure that your venue would allow you to party ‘til dawn.

If you try Googling for a venue, you will find that there are lots of options open for you. Nevertheless, you have to trim down your choices. Once you have already found the best place, next thing to take care of are the food, music, and other supplies. Make sure that you stick to your budget and don’t make unnecessary adjustments.
