How can i cut wood perpendicular to the grain that wont cause blow-out?

I am about to make an entertainment system out of a 4'x8' sheet of birch ply and clear pine veneer. I have the plans laid out for how to cut it but I don't want to cause blow-out when I go across the grain. If it is the blade, what kind do I need? I am not sure what is on there right now but I use a Ryobi 18v cordless circular saw.

If anybody can give me advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you score the cut line with a utility knife, before you cut it, you won't get the blow out.
